Toy: A WW2 (World War Two) era scratch built model of a floating model of a destroyer boat / ship, the portholes made from boot lace eyeholes, and the vents from bent nails. Approx. 20" long
Provenance: Lots 827, 828 & 829 were made by Captain F J Bly during his time on active service abroad from 1941-1945, during this time, he made three presents for his son ( John Bly ). The materials used for each toy reflecting Captain F J Bly's rise through the ranks with increasing access to materials. The first gift being a basic 20" long floating model of a Destroyer, the second a four turreted castle, the third a replica of the family's own Bedford truck used to transport furniture and a model of their Art Deco garage.
