Kemp & Brown Yoxford - Suffolk : An 18thC oak cased longcase clock with 30 hour birdcage movement, the brass 10" dial engraved ' Kemp & brown Yoxford' c1785. Approx 87" high overall
Kemp & Brown were in partnership for a time at Yoxford in the 1760's By the 1770's (certainly by 1772, when Kemp was taking on his own apprentices) they had dissolved the partnership and were trading separately. William Brown moved to Harleston where he was working into the 1790's. John Kemp remained working as a clockmaker at Yoxford until 1795, when he sold his business, he died in 1801.
