After Captain William Elliott, RN, (1755-1792), Engraving, The Royal Navy frigate HMS Thisbe being struck by lightning. Inscription below: Representation of the uncommon situation of His Majesty’s Ship Thisbe commanded by CAPtn. GEO ROBERTSON when in a very heavy gale of wind accompanied by Hail, Rain and Snow with her sails wet and closely furled and without spindles of any sort at the Mastheads. She was twice set on fire by Lightning on the Evening of 3rd January 1786 off the coast of Ireland in the Lat 50 : 50 Long 17 : 30 W. Approx. 16 1/4" x 20 1/2"
