Louis Dupre (1789-1837), Original lithograph hand coloured with watercolour, Titled Un Janissaire du Palais et un Bostangi / Janissary of the Imperial Guard and Gardener. From his travel book Voyage a Athenes et a Constantinople, published in Paris 1825. Plate number, titled under with embossed blind stamp with Dupre's monogram. A Janissary was the personal guard of the Sultan belonging to the only infantry division of the Ottoman army. Lithographer: Lemercier, Benard & Co. Unframed. Plate approx. 13" x 14"
